Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Depending on how you use ShaadiSnap — as a couple/owner, a guest, or a photography team using Studio — we collect:

Account information

• Email and password (stored as a salted hash — we never see or store your password in plain text), or
• Google account details if you choose "Continue with Google" — we receive only your email, name, and profile picture from Google, never your Google password.
• Your name and, if you add one, a profile photo.

Wedding content

• Photos and videos you or other invited guests upload, stored at full original resolution.
• Captions, event tags, favorites, comments, and reactions added within a wedding.

Automatically-derived data

• Technical metadata about a photo or video (upload time, which event it belongs to).
• AI-generated descriptions and quality signals used to power search and highlight reels — see §2.
• Face-detection data used for "Find Yourself" search — see §2.

Usage & device data

• Session identifiers that keep you signed in (see §8, Cookies).
• Standard web request data such as IP address and browser type, retained only as long as needed for security and abuse prevention.

We do not run third-party advertising trackers or analytics pixels on this website or in the app.

2. Face-matching & AI search

This is the part of ShaadiSnap that touches the most sensitive data, so we're explaining it separately and plainly rather than folding it into a general list.

When photos are uploaded to a wedding, our vision-processing service detects faces already present in those photos and converts each one into a numeric face embedding — a mathematical representation, not a stored picture of a face by itself. That embedding is used only to:

• group photos of the same person together for the couple/owner in Studio, and
• power "Find Yourself" — letting an invited guest find every photo they appear in within that one wedding, by matching against a profile photo they choose to add.

Face embeddings from one wedding are never compared against another wedding, never shared outside the ShaadiSnap platform, never used to identify you on any other service, and are not sold or licensed to anyone. If the source photo is removed, its associated face data is removed with it.

We also generate scene descriptions and quality signals for photos (using automated models, not human review) to power text search and the AI-curated highlight reel. When you type a search query, only the words you typed are sent to our search-parsing service — never your photos, embeddings, or face data.

None of this data is used to train third-party AI models, and none of it is used for advertising.

3. How we use your data

• To operate the private album you were invited to — storing, organizing, and displaying photos and videos for that wedding's invited guest list.
• To power search, "Find Yourself," and AI-curated highlights, as described in §2.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure — issuing sessions, detecting suspicious activity, and protecting against cross-site request forgery.
• To send transactional email you've triggered: verifying your address, resetting a forgotten password, or invite-related notices. We do not send marketing email without your separate consent.
• To respond when you contact us directly.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own advertising purposes. We do use a small number of infrastructure providers who process data strictly on our behalf, under their standard processor terms, to deliver the service:

• Amazon Web Services — hosts our database and application servers, in an India (Mumbai) data center.
• Cloudflare — stores original photo/video files and delivers them securely, and hosts this website.
• Google — only if you sign in with Google, to authenticate you.
• Our transactional email provider — to deliver verification and password-reset emails.
• A hosted language-model provider — to parse the text of a search query only, as described in §2.

We may also disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ShaadiSnap, our users, or the public.

5. Retention & deletion

A wedding's photos and data are kept for as long as the album is active, or until the couple/owner deletes it. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data — including your account or your photos — email us at contact@shaadisnap.com and we'll act on it.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable data protection law — including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — to access, correct, or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, and lodge a grievance. 7. Security

• All traffic between your device and ShaadiSnap is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
• Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text.
• Photo and video storage is private by default — files aren't publicly reachable; access is gated per signed-in, invited member.
• Access to production systems is limited to what's needed to operate the service.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we design the system to minimize what could ever be exposed.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly functional cookies — no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies:

• A session cookie that keeps you signed in.
• A CSRF-protection cookie that guards against cross-site request forgery.
• A short-lived media-delivery cookie that authorizes your browser to load the specific wedding's photos and videos you're allowed to see.

9. Where data is stored

Your account and wedding data are hosted primarily in AWS's India (Mumbai) region. Photo and video delivery uses Cloudflare's global network for speed — files remain encrypted and access-gated in transit.

10. Children

ShaadiSnap is not directed at children, and account holders must be capable of entering a legal agreement in their jurisdiction.

We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever this policy changes, and post the new version here.
